Lesson 9.1 — Five-Minute RTO Feedback Method
This coaching and teaching pack is for trainers, study partners and peer groups.
- Ask the candidate first. “What did you think the patient’s main agenda was?”
- Name one observable strength. Avoid vague praise. Example: “You picked up the cancer cue immediately and returned to it when explaining the plan.”
- Name one high-value missed moment. Choose one cue, explanation or planning moment that would materially change the consultation.
- Replay 30 seconds. Repeat the exact moment. Candidate tries a different response out loud.
- Set one behavioural goal. Example: “In the next three cases, use patient information once during management.”
