Module 1 gave you the map. Module 2 gives you everything you need to execute it. The first lessons cover the universal skills that apply to every station. The later lessons show how to adapt the same framework for each specialty and station type.


Module Introduction

2.1 — Opening Full opening protocol including GMC number. Adapt opening line to doctor's plan vs patient's plan. Handle 8 challenging opening scenarios. Structured telephone opening. Signposting.
2.2 — History Taking SOCRATES for pain. FODPARA for non-pain symptoms. PMAFTOSA for background history, with DESA for social history. Universal red flags including FLAWS for cancer.
2.3 — ICE and Empathy ICE woven naturally throughout — not bolted on. Acknowledgement, validation, normalisation. Silence is allowed.
2.4 — Diagnosis and Management Tell-Ask-Explain-Check. Plain language. 4-step management plan. Cancer referral phrasing. Shared decision-making.
2.5 — Safety Netting and Time Management Specific safety-netting (what, why, what to do). Follow-up timing. 4-minute rule. Safety-net first when time is short.
2.6 — Medical Add-Ons System-specific questions for Cardio, Resp, GI, Neuro, MSK, Endocrine, Renal, Dermatology.
2.7 — Obs/Gyn and Paediatrics Menstrual history + GPAL. Age-adapted paediatric consultation. Milestones. Safeguarding lens.
2.8 — Psychiatry and Consultation Stations Psychiatric history, MSE (8 domains), risk assessment. Consultation stations: check what they know, chunk and check, ICE, SDM, safety-net.
